"Aging casual gamers"
I feel attacked.
whoa i didnt know castlevania cotm was a launch game
Nintendo are (typically) trusted to launch a new console with a groundbreaking game. The only contemporary to come anywhere close is Xbox launching alongside Halo.
Just gotta pick all the safest picks we can, no way we can have ideas of are own or have opinions…
I’m going to disagree with Halo being over Mario 64.
Where’s Sonic? I guess there’s no room when you have 3 Mario games on the list
Great list!
Tekken Tag Tournament of PS2 is 1000 times better than soul calibur
I have most of these.
I don't have tetris or the Microsoft Garbage. Haha. I would like to check out that Castlevania one though. That looks fun. As for the other 7, I have them all but 3 variations. I chose Wii Sports Resort and Wii U Sports Club over Wii Sports. I chose to get Twilight Princess on the Gamecube over the Wii and am glad I did. Also picked up Breath of the Wild for the Wii U instead of the Swtich. I will say the Dreamcast had probably the best overall console launch games. They went out guns blazing.
I love about 80% of this list is Nintendo, congrats Nintendo
Nintendo.
SM 64 Is the best. Think about the fact that in that time there was no freaking plataform games on 3D. It set the basis how an adventure games has to be. And the feeling in that time was something awesome and unique. Greetings from Argentina.
what's the game at 0:35?
IGN top 100 games ever: SMW is #1
Best launch games: SMW is #5.
This is why no one takes ign seriously
No way in hell halo is above Mario 64.
Dunkey: KNACK II AND SUPER MARIO BROS 2 BABY!!!!!!!!!!
BREATH OF THE WILD WAS INCREDIBLY AMAZING
As much as I love Zelda…I would not count botw and TP to this list..
This video took 0 risks. The only interesting choices where the Gameboy Advanced and Dreamcast choices, because they were not games traditionally thought of as "The Best" in most contexts.
Choosing a launch title for the playstations, the 360, or for older consoles would have been far more interesting. How is Pong on the Odyssey 100 not listed? The first game ever created on one of the first gaming consoles ever released?
Ultimately, this video should have been more than just a Top 10, so that you could include the givens and the ones that would lead to interesting discussion.
I loved rezogun on the ps4
Where's Super Mario Galaxy?
Number 1 : KNACK 2 baby for ps4
Luigi Mansion
You forgot knack
Baybeee
While not a "masta piece" I loved Wario Ware Touched on NDS.
I love how most of these are Nintendo games
Where is KNACK!?!
There's evidence that Super Mario Bros. was not a console launch title for the NES. I'm not saying it shouldn't be on this list because it's a fascinating mystery, but I wish that would have been recognized and noted. Would probably be worth a feature in itself. I'm pretty sure Super Mario didn't come out with the New York and Los Angeles market launches.
4:50 my all time favorite game ever.
Being a Sonic fan, I was much more interested in playing Sonic Adventure on my Dreamcast than Soul Calibur. I didn't even get into the Soul Calibur series until they started including guest fighters from franchises I enjoyed.
Super Mario 64 …. the best ever.
Sh*t-list.
Mario 64 should be #2
Halo started the whole increase in first person shooter and changed what we played today
Ridge Racer's omission here is surprising given its impact on launching a brand new console. While it lacked content, it paved the way for huge, colourful, textured 3D, pixel worlds in a way Saturn's Daytona failed to match. Before this, the only 3D games that came before were classics such as Virtua Racing (Genesis) and Star Fox (SNES) with their featureless polygons and low frame rate.
Ridge Racer was a look at the future of video games and the first true huge generational leap over its counterparts. It was a huge deal at launch as it propelled the console out of the gate and helped it gain a footing in a market dominated by Sega and Nintendo. I'm surprised it was overlooked by IGN given its impact on the market, its influence on the many imitations that followed and its standard setting showcase of the new era future of 3D gaming. It would certainly make the top three of this list.
#1. Why I started gaming. #2. What made me game with friends again. #3. What made me love gaming forever. 1-3 are pure magic and my life would not be the same without them.
Personally:
1) Mario 64(N64)
2) Resogun(PS4)
3) Tekken Tag(PS2)
4) Killer Instinct(XB1)
5) Super Mario World
Those are the games that come to mind. I've been there for the launch of every Playstation and Xbox, as well as the N64. I think I had a SNES at or near launch too, but I was too young to really remember it.
Wii sports the best launch game to rival soulja boi console launch
“An accidentally toss though ur television “ 11 year old me sweating intensely?
Nintendo know how to launch a console that is for sure
Not surprised to see half the list is Mario/Zelda games and deservedly so. Nintendo knows how to launch a console for sure.
Honestly most of them nitendo games
Most population in the world is india but not even 0.3% of them own nitendo because price of game f for nitendo most of them own playstation in india
No Sony Consoles
You guys can't put Wii Sports at number 7. Historically it sold the Wii, it launched the entire Wii brand and proved that it had clout with it's sequel selling what? 30 Million units? Wii Sports is easily top 3 and arguably number 1. Subjective sure, and it's not my favorite, but you can't ignore it's effect on the entire generation.
What about sonic the hedghog with the sega genesis???
My…..Breath of the Wild
No Ocarina of time? Crash Bandicoot? Spyro? I played the mess out of Crash 2 and Spyro 2
