This modular-like is getting so close to the historic Project Ara Google phone, and I hope they can make it (module upgradable) one day..!
Iam so disappointed that my 7 year old samsung galaxy s7 gave out about 2 months ago and i had to get a new phone before i learned about this thing today
My god, thats a dream come true, it and the framework 16
This feels similar to what would happen if Framework tried their hand at releasing a phone. I want one!

No one clicked for "what's best for earth"
Avid viewer. Couldn't make it through this video. For some reason your s in the words is very harsh. Kind of like the gopher from Winnie the Pooh. But on my pixel and my pc. I couldn't handle.
It IS clickbait… what is this piece of rock i can only put it under my table to not wobble…
Wanted to have a fairphone for longer, but LCD and the big bezels always stopped me in the end. Now with a 90Hz OLED and this super solid design I'm in π
The irony of saying not clickbait π
Fairphone lost a great PR opportunity to comment here asking Jerry to send this phone back for recycling…..
I bet modders and after-marker upgraders will love this. I'm all for it.
Companies focus too much on the thickness of a phone tbh. I would much rather have more battery with slightly thicker phone
"I'd buy that for a dollar"
This reminds me of my beloved LG G4. Replaceable battery and microSD card slot have always been a priority for me – it's just annoying that the vast majority of phone manufacturers have gradually done away with various features whilst increasing the price.
I use an LG V30+ now, which has a microSD card slot but no replaceable battery. The built-in DAC and headphone jack are features that I didn't know would become rare after a few years. It's still going strong and I have no plans to replace it for many more years to come (hopefully).
But NO headphone jack ππππππ
Bring it to USA and make it compatible with Verizon.
Do you guys remember Xperia ZR from 2013? User replaceable battery but still water resistant, I swim with the ZR a lot back then.
now for a screen with no front camera as an option pleeeeese
the lg g5 had removeable battery but it had extremely low battery life and burn-in on the oled screen
Very interesting content im wacthing every uploads
….. im just lateπππππ
I want a phone which dom't need regular repairs or repairs at all, this phone is telling me that it will fail many times in its runtime, so repairibility is priotized in designing.
It's looks a like old Nokia keypad phone ( every part can be sperate )
So, how's the camera quality?
And how will the phone cope with being in a regular pocket, and it suddenly begins to pour down with rain? ( could only imagine that if the carrier gets caught up in heavy rain, or if being outdoors in extremely humid weather having the phone in a softshell/shell jacket pocket the condense will get inside the phone and it'll short-circuit π
As much as I like the idea of the Fairphone, their software support track record really isnβt as good as it should be so I highly doubt this thing will get 8 years of software updates
Iβve been thinking more and more about switching from Apple to something else when my phone dies. Hopefully itβs another 4 years (itβs still a pretty newiPhone 13), and by then Fairphones become available in the US and Canada because I would love to get one.
I love how easy it is to replace or fix things yourself. Reminds me of the days when the average consumer just needed a screwdriver and common sense to fix or upgrade things.
hola jerry buenos tus videos asi uno puede elegir que telefono puede comparar te escribo desde panama donde es el link de tus cuchillas para comprar si tienes envios a Panama america central
at this point, new phone was getting marginally improved.
If this phone had a headphone jack and was optimized to use GrapheneOS, it would be 100% perfect.
If only this was normal for all phone makers
Congo lol. If we hadn't gone there for minerals, they'd still be eating mud.
At that price, the Fairphone will just not succeed. I can get the newest Pixel pro phone for that amount of money and that just has way more features. The Fairphone really should be subsidized by the state to bring it down to 400$ and it would hit the market like a meteorite (in a good way) ^^
Very cool. It reminds me of a buildable phone design Motorola had long ago, but they where sold before the plan could come to fruitation. I think the premises is really cool and would be very awesome if there was upgradability of components.
Yea, but still no 3.5 phone jack which makes you buy unsustainable headphones.
i will definitely bought this if its available in my country
Ugh, the gut punch at the end that it's not available here in the states… π’
Had no idea there was a company doing this. Thanks for sharing and testing.
Also, side note, 5:40 made me actually cringe, lol. I know why you're doing it and appreciate it, but still had that reaction, lol
On paper itβs looks wonderful but I bet this phone wonβt survive the meeting with bigger pudle
I can't stand these preachy…
I'm surprised this isn't your new daily
Way back users hate Samsung with plastic covers, but for me i love plastic back with replaceable battery, I hope this fairphone will be release globally
Fair phone in INDIA pls
This is amazing… I want one just to support these guys. F AAPL
There always exists some kind of trade-off. For example, I know that exterior aesthetic Look is a very subjective thing but this phone looks ugly, especially from the back side, especially the camera part.
The Fairphone 5 may not be available in the US, but the Fairphone 4 is indeed available stateside. It's being sold by a company called e/OS and ships with the e/OS operating system. e/OS says that they're monitoring the situation with the Fairphone 5 and hope to be able to offer it eventually.
