  1. They honestly just need to release this already. IMO There is NO need for LED screens on our wrists. Makes complete sense for e-ink/paper displays for wearable tech BECAUSE of how long the battery lasts in comparison. I would replace this over my apple watch TOMORROW (that ive had to replace because of battery issues 3 times now anyway). Bring on the pebble please!

  2. Still using my pebble. I almost felt bad when i bought my pebble 10+ years ago, I'm a known harbringer of doom. I had a discman as a teen, and a Sega Saturn, also went for Zune instead of iPod, my first true smartphone was a Palm Pre (I had a Nokia N95 before that but that felt more like peak feature phone as opposed to early smartphone, maybe this is a hot take). I worked at a blockbuster the year it went out of business and my next job was at an Internet Cafe lol I know they're still a thing in Japan, but I'm European, half of them shut in 2004-5, the year home internet became affordable, mine was a gaming cafes, those survived a bit longer as fast broadband only became cheapish in the late 00s, and the global recession, slowed down slightly the mass adoption of fast internet in my country due to people being broke and sticking to cheapish options. I kinda think of 2012 as the critical year of mass addoption of smartphones AND cheap fast home internet, the last few gaming net cafes closed then and all that was left was the "skype" cafes, where basically African, American and Asian immigrants would go to skype their families, send western union transfers etc. Anyway, going on a tangent, I shouldn't have bought a pebble, that was clearly a sign that something wasn't right with their business model :DD

  3. I'm down, all I use my Galaxy watch for other than assistant are the features I had on my Pebble, I miss that display and being able to do a lot of things without having to look at my watch, I wish the Galaxy watch had a few more buttons that were customizable

  4. I had the first Pebble off Kickstarter. I switched phones at some point and it didn't like the new phone. So I sold it. I loved the Pebble… I truly hope they are able to get some solid hardware.

  5. My favorite smart watch to date is the Amazfit Fitbip 1 with its transflective display. I tried going back to Samsung, and just can't. I just need an activity tracker without all the annoyances of Android, even back when it was Tizen, just nah… I still have the Gear 2. Sadly I got into pebble after it ceased existing. More out of morbid curiosity. Also as a man who likes to mess with things software wise, it was a fun watch with an active community. I wished more companies outside of Garmin used Transflective displays.

  6. After not getting the Pebble Time 2 I looked around for a while. In the end I ended up with Garmin. They have also those e-ink like displays, have a week of battery life, and have buttons to directly control the device. I am not sure if RePebble will be any better then an entry Garmin watch.

  7. Actually the display is not E-paper, it's a transflective LCD, which is a low energy display with a kind of mirror instead of a backlight, so it uses external right to be illuminated.
