There’s a lot to get into this week and no Marques to help us through it (kind of)! He’s too busy dominating at Nationals so Andrew …

  1. One important distinction between Orion and Spectacles is that with Spectacles anyone can order them for subscrubtion price right now, while Orion only available for a few hand selected meta devs.

  2. I think using HSA dollars to purchase smething like AirPods would be different than your insurance actually paying for it. HSA is just your non-taxed income that you set aside for health related purchases, more or less. So it may not be too far out of reach to be able to use an HSA account or FSA account to pay for AirPods in the near future. Idk though

  3. Can someone explain me what’s new with the hearing protection for concerts in the AirPods Pro? I use my AirPods Pro since a few years during concerts in transparency mode and it does exactly what you described. At a certain volume it’s lowers the volume in the whole spectrum and not just the bass like wax earplugs would. So what’s new in comparison to just using transparency.

  4. Hey! I really appreciate these honest and informative reviews, which have given me a better understanding of those things.

I'm a representative of AutoFull, a brand that's well-known for its gaming chairs. I’d love to know if you’re interested in them, and we would be thrilled to explore a collaboration with you!☺Looking forward to your reply.

  5. 1:19:05 why didn't the company use a cooling or cooler cord possible through or smaller cooling micro fan does that sound too far out there its possible fan or cooling without making it more bulking @Waveform

  6. Every day I feel us getting closer and closer to a real-life Black Mirror episode. The ideas Boz was throwing out were a little too dystopian for my tastes.

  7. @WVFRM Podcast FYI – they have special music earplugs that allow the full range of the music to come through so you can still enjoy the concert but they just dampen the volume to avoid ear damage. So don't just use any earplugs at concerts, get ones that are made for music concerts.

  8. Get earplugs that are made for musicians, the tree type, not the foam ones. Or if you're loaded, get them molded to your ear. They're a few hundos and last for ages. Mine are -25dB with replaceable filters and back when I was clubbing a lot, were perfect.

  9. The point about being faster at running the browser is more about processing updates to content on the page. Web pages today have a lot of scripts and content. So, after a page loads from the network, it would just feel much snappier if scripts process faster.

  10. 21:51 Ellis. May I ask, do you choose less noise, default or more noise. I initially didn’t know you could change it and when I did, less noise is so much better for office use.

  11. I personally use concert earplugs like Eargasm earplugs, Loops experience, and a hanful of others I've tried. Personally I prefer those to using my airpods noise cancelling, and they work great. (They help reduce decibels but mostly overall dont ruin the frequencies, just reduce everything at an equal level.)

  12. One thing that never gets talked about is how sucky the iPhone's autocorrect is. I think this is much more valid for foreign languages when typed in english and how long it takes for the keyboard to adapt is just insane.

  13. personally where I think AR makes a lot of practical sense as a tool, is in transportation, manufacturing, and construction. for example being able to look at the plans in 3D overlaid over top of actual construction; seeing your turn by turn driving directions overlay directly over the view through the windshield so you don't have to take your eyes from the road and you know exactly where your turn is rather than finding out after you pass it because you have to keep looking at the map; in manufacturing you could overlay production and sensor data over the actual machine.

I think it where they are kind of screwing up with these glasses is in trying to make them look "normal" when in fact they should really be leaning into the cyberpunk aesthetic… after all the only thing more cyberpunk then augmented reality would be a direct brain linkage to your wearable or embedded hardware.

  14. I agree, Facebook is already enough of a dumpster fire without people permanently wearing it on their face, but yeah I think we are doomed to a future of AR immersed people
