  1. People are shocked at this dude being a sellout ……no wonder they vote for same shitty politicians over and over and over again 😂 it makes so much sense now. People are sheep 🐑 …things align.

  2. when you make money and become a millionaire, that's when you slowly become more and more out of touch, of what it felt like to actually struggle in life. the more and more greedy you become. this is exactly where marques is, he's now in that phase of his life.

  3. The app is too high. I think a lot of apps are too high. It’s just like watch face apps or tons of other things I just don’t see being worth the cost. There are a lot of wallpaper apps around the same price. His app splits revenue 50/50 with the creators, which many other apps do not do, and most likely adds to why his price is higher. I see a lot of apps that I don’t value as just high for no reason. But the app does have a free version, and that free version has adds. How else would the app pay the artists? The permissions can be turned off, so I’m not sure why that’s such a big problem. If the app forced you to allow the permissions, that would be different. The app doesn’t even force you to sign in, which most do. It’s amazing how much time and energy people have put into criticizing him.

  4. Phil: The most interesting part of this whole situation is what impact it has on him or will he end up seeing that as like "oh I broke one of my own rules" or "oh I've been too hard on other companies" Me: EXCEPT his reaction is OBVIOUSLY DENIAL and Fundamental Attribution Bias! "oh, these people are just haters, and I'm different because I'm ME and those other companies AREN'T ME."

  5. You know what is a phenomenal resource for wallpapers? Wikimedia Commons (aka host for all of Wikipedia's images). They have a massive archive of absurdly high rez images, ranging from classical paintings to astrological photography and everything in-between. I dig through for new pictures to add to my collection once or twice a year and haven't touched any sketchy "4k free anime wallpaper" websites since. It's all absolutely free and registered under creative commons, so you never have to worry about using some poor uncredited artist's stolen work.

  6. Some one on Twitter posted that there’s no link signing in panels and then proceeded to drop in a file that contained over 350 HD download links all of which go into the content delivery network for panels
The replies after that point were basically people running bash scripts to download them

  7. There is a big difference between being a tech reviewer and running an actual business that sells products. To be clear, I'm not saying being a successful tech reviewer or content creator isn't a business but rather the reality of selling software is that there are significant upfront costs and ongoing costs to maintain it. Those costs force you to charge for an app or use ad revenue to monetize it in the hope you recover your investment.

  8. This app is crazy. Not only can you save images you find online for free, and then set them as your wallpaper, but can Marques guarantee that none of the images submitted to the app were AI generated?

If not, he'll need to be careful as most AI image generators say you cannot use the images for any commercial purposes. I'd hope his team are vetting every image sent to him!

  9. 50/50 With the artists ? How broke is MKBHD again? That's one greedy man, hell Nawww! , and 50$ for a wallpaper subscription is just insane. It's never enough for this so called influencers/ reviewers. They never learn. That damn app is associated with NFTs. Bro Just agreed to be included in the scammers community.

  10. This shifted my perspective of him, wonder how many reviews of his were just for money, he lost all integrity in my eyes and i unsubbed his channel

  11. If the prices were low, I would think he’s just making a simplified way for fans to get the wallpapers he uses. But with the prices listed it seems like a cash grab and no one liked that.

  12. "Curated" phone wallpapers? Give me a break. I thought that poor word had reached maximum abuse when restaurants began having "curated" menus. People with specialized graduate degrees curate, not cooks and phone company marketers.

  13. Its amazing when a critic tries to go into the field of what they were criticizing and end up creating something completely worse than what they've been criticizing.
