put a SIM in it and so many parents would buy it for kids. and themselves
3:08 i have my kindle with like 10gb of pdfs that i download from google, what do you mean?
All of Boox's eReaders run Android. A couple of years ago when I did my market research into one, Boox was the only premium eReader brand that had an open eco system (running eInk optimized android). They are pricier since they can't subsidize their devices with eco system fees, but are also much better built.
I Have A Kobo Clara HD Refurb Fo $89.00, That"s All I Need !!!!! ๐
No Google Maps no deal.
If you think it's a kindle alternative I think it's good. I carry my kindle and my phone together, it'd be good if I take one device with me sometimes, but if this one works with e-sim, when I get e-sim they disable physical one and I can't use two device as a phone. That's confusing
Biggest flaw was a lack of SIM card. Like tf? I still need a phone ๐
if they made an actual smartphone with sim, gps and nfc, id buy it immediately. would be a great work phone for me
It literally can't be used to make calls so it's not a phone
So it's not a phone…
i feel in a few years these devices will have 4k cameras, 5g sim card support, 144hz refresh rate, foldable option too. and the non distraction phone will become very thing it was going against lol.
I think its a good weekend device when you're done working, to disconnect, or when you're on holiday
they need to make a small square version with Sim card and Id buy it
If this has a SIM card and good Google Maps functionality, I'm in.
I heard you touch on every subject but how are the phone calls
I enjoy tech and to buy new phones is my hobby. I would never buy a phone like this, but I see its potential in certain demographic
8 months late on this one Marques? If you're not a reader I guess its not for you.
After 5 years of usage … this thing can still give at least couple of days of battery backup … that means reduced repurchases by consumers … means reduced profit for mobile manufacturers … but never the less, this thing can definitely improve world … less distraction, better mindfulness for whole society and also a but greener world …
Just add better camera and SIM card as these features don't add to distractions … (I dont get much calls, neither I am selfie person)
If it doesnโt have the ability to make calls and texts, itโs not a phone. This is completely useless.
It's not a phone since it doesn't have cellular connectivity.
Review the Light Phone 3 when that comes out!
Really dumb that it can't make calls and send texts. Seems kind of important for a phone, no? That would actually make it usable.
turn on greyscale mode on your phone
I really think removing a sim card is a big miss. having a sim card means you dont have to carry a phone with it.
Marques Brownlee ๐ so annoying ๐
Its just a kindle
Imagine a flip phone where the front is e-ink and the foldable screen an OLEd. I would take it without hesitation ๐ค
Woah I need this for read manga
it just needs to be able to make and receive calls through cellular network and it would be useful for more people
That intro was something else, wow!
That being said, I have to agree with the other saying that this isn't a phone without cellular functionality. Would be awesome to get a product which is basically this plus a SIM slot.
would have bought it if it had sim and whatsapp
that's not a phone "The BOOX Palma is a phone-sized mobile ePaper device with a Carta 1200 HD screen, BSR technology, a built-in Google Play Store, and 6GB + 128GB of storage." -BOOX official page
I would have gone. For this but no sim card is a dealbreaker
I think it's insane when I see people recording a live show with their phone to watch later or simply to show to other people on social media.
This is kinda pointless. Why would i carry around another device when my phone can work as an ereader? And about the distractions: we're grownups, we can uninstall social media and we can disable unwanted notifications. If someone can't or is not willing to then they won't switch to a device like this either.
For those who are in interesed in an ereader phone……check out the minimal phone by the minimal company.
Hey marques, if you can get your hands on one……do a review of the minimal phone!
The only video where Marques misrepresents a product and ignore the definition of a simple concept called "phone" . Was this video rushed WTH brother !!!
Since I am a light user, and love the power of flagship devices and like to have that longer battery life, I wonder if it would be possible for companies who make modern smartphones to make an option for users to buy the same phone, but with the E-Ink display
palma isn't a phone, it's an e-reader. We've been begging them for a sim slot to turn it into a phone for years.
NOT A PHONE
Why no sim card? No wifi would make more sense.
Brown Nancy Perez Jose Thompson Richard
I kinda get it. It's a phone for book readers.
If it can't do calls, it's not a phone.
Might make this as my phone to just read manga
put a SIM in it and so many parents would buy it for kids. and themselves
