Gee, a USB 2.0 C cable compared to a Thunderbolt 4, some comparison…. USB 2 doesn't need as tight specs as TB4.
Still buying the $12 cord. I can change it out periodically and still save money compared to the apple stuff. And honestly how much of a difference does it make. Are we saying an empty battery charge takes 5 min more or a hour. Data transfer speed difference how much slower. If it isn't a significant time difference the $12 cord wins.
That is comparing a USB 2.0 level USB-C cable to a thunderbolt cable, that is comparing apples to bananas. Thunderbolt connections are active connections, has way more signal pairs where the stock standard USB 2.0 (480Mbps connection) we had for decades only needed 1 pair (white-green) . I would really like to see what is the real difference between properly certified "3rd party" Thunderbolt cables (besides Apple's incredible piece of engineering).
Jeez. You're just talking 10x vs a $13 cable. I get my cables for $1.25 plus tax at the D-Tree — that makes the Apple one a 100x difference!
Pffft
I'm not British but This is a load of bollocks mate.
which cable do you want to plug into your $4000+ laptop?
TLDR: if just charging and basic transfers, cheap is just fine. If doing mission critical data transfer and sensitive equipment, get the Apple one
Don't you just love how analogue voltage reigns supreme? Those analogue levels, minute as they are, dictating how a digital circuit should behave? I love the superiority of analogue signal references. Nothing beats an analogue signal, you cannot dispute (π). That level of accuracy needs some kind of management, but it should not cost the earth. I feel as though we are being conned by a digital lie.
Great video, Good idea for a new channel for this kind of detailed comparison
This video brought to you by: Apple.
This should really be Thunderbolt compared to another Thunderbolt cable showing apples cable as the standard. The comparison really isn't fair. Also test actual data transfer rate and power.
Remember MONSTER cables from the 90s?? They were tested by the the best and found to be a SCAM. Same thing here !! Shame shame Adam !!
Do a real comparison to Anker ($36) or Cable Matters ($32) or Belkin ($70) Thunderbolt 4 cable, not a USB cable.
What is MFi certified chip?
A phone isn't going to charge any faster then the phone is designed to charge regardless of how nice or expensive your cable is.
Apple even developed the electroplated coating on the C shell to give lower insertion force and wear characteristics. Amazing attention to detail.
How about a title change. Thunderbolt cable vs basic USB c
I love gear content like this. Amazing scanner. At least the money Apple demands is going to some aspect of what you're getting. The 16:00 cable… LOL… as annoying as the old USB cables were to plug in right, can you imagine one that fits perfectly both ways but only works one way? Yikes…
I don't need to watch the video to answer the title's question……it's $130 because ignorant Apple customers will pay for whatever garbage Apple puts out.
