  1. First they will remove the charging port & then they will give the Touch ID by saying , charging port was getting in the way of Touch ID 🤣 now buy our wireless charging port. Its a win win situation for them.

  2. Guess ill be holding on to my iphone 8 plus then, don't care for face id at all. I subscribe to renee ritchys philosophy of multi forms of authentications so there's a trust threshold met for security not just one thing over the other. yea it might cost a bit more for it to be implemented but since when has apple shyed away from price increases? Just another con in the pros vs cons when buying a new iPhone i guess and I'm a long time iPhone user – 3g, 4 , 6 plus , 8plus . the total now comes to 3 cons and one positive, cons = no native xcloud/gamepass intergration , no touch id , and still stupidly expensive. the only positive i find as a long term iphone user would be the length of support of each phone you get. android here I come I guess? … and no icloud/ imessage won't keep me on apples platform

  3. I think given the variable quality of on-screen fingerprint sensors and the fact it would make the screen thicker, Apple may not offer Touch ID on the iPhone except for one specific model; the iPhone SE. And only then with an enlarged power button like what Apple did with the iPad Air and iPad Mini models.

  4. Great content. Try this take an samsung phone and a Iphone, lay them both on the table flat. Then put both phones in always on display or lock screen. With out bending over just using you arm and hand open your phone. And see which is faster fingerprint scanner or punching in a pass code. Remember you can't bend over or lift the phones for face recognition. And if you have good thumb memory or at least for me I can close my eye's and still turn on my screen by using my fingerprint scanner.

  5. I’ve had the same issue with polarized sunglasses. Even with the watch setting on for mask. Because it needs you looking at the phone to unlock and somehow can’t see through polarized lenses

  6. Tbf I used to prefer Touch ID to Face ID. But since iPhone 13, Face ID is now just as quick as Touch ID and now I prefer it. Plus it’s more secure. I think aswell with the introduction of dynamic island on the 14 Pro’s, that is solidifying Apple’s commitment to continue to use the True Depth camera used for Face ID.

  7. Apple doesn't care because they have life long customers. They could replace touch ID with broken glass that cut you each time you used it and their cult members would still line up to buy…..

  8. What I still don’t understand after all these years is the fact that Siri is always listening should make it so they give you another option such as a specific group of words you could use to unlock your device. Like if you’re not a CIA agent and you really don’t care, or you don’t have anything on your phone that you care about your family finding out about you should be able to just say something to open your phone so you won’t have to touch it at all. Why can’t you come up with a unique set of words such as “ the fish ate the worm and danced a jig”? So you could say “hey Siri , the fish ate the worm and danced a jig“ and it would open up your device so if you’re sitting across the room from it and you want to open YouTube, you could just say those words and everything would happen automatically. Or you could even shout out a numeric pass code without having to touch your phone at all. This is one way to open up a device that I don’t think any company has done and I just don’t understand why or I’m just the only genius that’s thought of it. So if you know you’re alone in your house or whatever or you don’t care if somebody hears you say it why can’t that be available? Personally, I think the whole thing should be able to be activated with just your voice so if you had your iPad on a stand for instants on your desk, you wouldn’t even have to touch it, or have your face nearby so you could yell from across the room “heySiri , (insert magic words) open, Spotify, or play some music or open YouTube and play video from Lew Later”. Am I wrong or is this not a good idea? Because as it stands right now, you either have to have your face right in front of it or you have to touch it. It almost warrants somebody writing a letter to Apple Inc. suggesting something like this. Or you could even have it open a specific device because often I have a problem when I’ve been using my iPad and have not even touched my phone for a while and both are in the room and I want to open the iPad and even though my face is right in front of the iPad, the phone will respond and say that you need to unlock your iPhone first and it’s really irritating because I didn’t want to use the phone. I want to use the iPad and if you could shout out a set of words, you could say hey siri and have a specific set of words for your iPad as opposed to your iPhone so that would know which one you’re trying to open. So for instance, if the passcode on your iPad is 43769 you could say hey siri say those numbers and it would open your iPad instead of your iPhone. I guess I just don’t know how to do it but it’s really irritating when I’m sitting right in front of my iPad and that’s what I want to open and it answers on my phone. Apple is so smart and someways, but then they’re so dumb and other ways. Sometimes some thing that should be a complete no-brainer completely flies under their radar.

  9. Face ID is a much more secure biometric system. As good as Apple’s fingerprint sensor was, the 3D face scanner Apple uses is the most accurate and robust.

  10. “Upgrades” from iPhone 8 to an iPhone 14 pro and Face ID is terrible. It’s borderline unusable if you’re lying down in bed and the need to constantly peer into your phone’s soul just to unlock the damn thing sucks. Oh, and because you have to flick upward every damn time to get from the lock screen to the home screen, you have to touch near the same place where the fingerprint scanner used to be.

Face ID will always be a downgrade from Touch ID, all because Apple wanted to be different and not copy the under-display readers or implement a side button.

  11. You can add another face for Face ID if it doesn’t recognize you in new sunglasses. I didn’t do that and my iPhone gradually realized who I was after raising my glasses a dozen times.

Apple is just being stubborn with Touch ID. It’s on the Mini; there’s no good reason not to have it on an iPhone. People love it, it’s reliable, a nice back up/alternative to Face ID- bring it back. All iPhones/pads/macs should be uniform in this way.

  12. they should have had this as a option instead of that damn face id touch id seems faster i don’t understand why they always take shit away from the phone let us have a dam option

  13. Face ID is ok , but it does fail occasionally , if your hat is covering a bit more of your scone than usually , it can fail , if you grow a bit more hair on your face , it can fail , if you have a mask covering a bit more face again it can fail , it can be hit and miss and with a combination of all factors , face ID is not a perfect solution .
I have power button ID on my air 4 ipad , its OK , but it too can be hit and miss ,
I`m still preferring the old rear finger print sensor or a good quality in screen finger print sensor.
One of my favourite finger print sensors on the back of a device was on the nexus 6p , your index finger just fell into the hole , by the time you pulled your phone out of your pocket the display was already unlocked , and that is pretty hard to beat .
Galaxy models have a decent under screen finger ID , and snapdragon apparently supports the bigger finger print sensor under screen , but apparently most phones dont have it im guessing because it probably costs a few bucks more .

  14. Apple won’t do that stupid move LOL…the camera on face id can be used for many things while touch id only used for one thing and requre additional space plus will make it harder for consumer to choose their tempered glass unless using ultrasonic plus security ratio for face id is far higher 🤷🏻

  15. Touch ID coming back by 2025 on their foldable device. Or in 2024 on iPhone 16, as that would be a new iphone design. If we get nothing by 2025, then it’s def canceled. iPhone SE 4 rumored for touch id

  16. If they cannot make an under-display FP sensor that competes well with Qualcomm's ultrasonic that most Android OEMs license, then why bother? They will never pay Qualcomm as that gives money to the leading competitor. Face-ID is owned by Apple, so little, if any, patents need paying. It means fewer costs which can be passed down to the customer. Apple has learnt from the mistakes of Android OEMs, that simply buy everything off the shelf and own little with intrinsic value, that developing your own features means fewer costs long term.

  17. If their face ID could skip the lock screen just like on Android it would be a non issue for many users. The biggest thing I always found was that with the fingerprint scanner you went right to the home screen.
