9. TikTok pretty much scrapes your phone for everything it can get ahold of, regardless if you’re sharing it on TikTok. Most people don’t realize this, but when you type on an app you have to give it permission to intercept keystrokes. Same with using the camera and the mic. Those permissions allow apps to access those functionalities even in the background, meaning an app can collect any of your information regardless of whether or not you share that info on the app. TikTok is notorious for intercepting keystrokes, even the stuff you don’t post, so they can build social graphs and harvest that data for the CCP. It’s a very clever piece of spyware that you perceive as a fun app on your phone.
