  1. Finally someone is giving this feature a proper attention.
Since SONY showed this Xperia 1 IV i keep telling that THIS is the innovation we're waiting for when it comes to cameras!
Sure, it's just a first try (well, first successful one) and the tech still has a way to go, but the potential is enormous!
I can't wait for someone to offer, for example, an ultrawide lens with AF for macro and then a 2x-10x variable optical range. Pair this with a good, ~50mpix, sensor and we're at the peak smartphone camera. 🤷‍♂️

  2. Why aren’t you designing your own phones or cameras? You’re so much bigger than this, you’re predicting and moving the entire segment…. Let’s go champ, I want a partnership between mkbhd and Sony for a line of destroyer phones that crush the competition with common sense applications of tech the way you see it!

  3. Tamron 18-400 for canon and nikon dslrs. Cost less than 1k$ i guess. But it.s not as sharp as a prime lens. For mirorless cameras idk
Also in the bridge segment there is nikon p1000 with smth like 125x optical zoom – from 24 to 3000mm

  4. Why people amazed by the zoom lens..! Yes it is really good and I am a Sony guy.. Like since I know phones I have been using Sony phone. I am currently on the Xperia 1ii. But the first time I heard and saw optical zoom was in the Nokia N90. It had an actual zoom lens with Carl Zeiss Optics with 3x zoom lens. Later on there was the N91 and N93 and may be a few more with real Zoom lenses.

  5. The future, I think, should be a smartphone with one fixed camera that can do wide-tele zoom digitally, but still, maintain a superb detail. Well yeah, there comes AI to re-create a digitized version of the image. I heard there is a technology that can sharpen blurry or low-res images. It should be like vector image; no matter how many times we zoom the image, it will always be sharp. If currently we can create good [fake] bokeh, next we would be able to create good [fake] sharp images.

  6. for 1599$ you can get fully spec iPhone 13 pro max or galaxy s22 ultra or even galaxy fold 3, which is way more innovative than this sony phone.

sony makes good phones, but they are way over priced. that's why only hardcore sony fans buy sony phones.

  7. zoom camera looks very cool but, well, thats not realy a lof of magnifying. google pixel's ai zoom doesnt require separate lens but still pulls hard af as you may have seen.
its more of "using the whole sensor without cropping" than visually enlarging the pencil
