  1. About the "charger not included" thing. The complaint/justification about chargers in the box is that "everybody has a drawer full of chargers at this point". No, no one that isn't a tech reviewer or a rich doofus that buys a new phone every 2 months has that many chargers. And even if someone did, newer phones tend to have different charging modes (as in require more watts for their Supa Dupa Mega Turbo Powah) so to charge them as fast as they're designed you need a proper charger for that model/line anyway. It's bad for the environment, despite what companies say, because more chargers need to be produced and shipped with MORE NOT LESS packaging, therefore more waste in the end. It's bad for the consumer, despite what companies say, because it's inconvenient, more expensive (funny how phones aren't any cheaper by not shipping without all the extra stuff, just like digital distribution was supposed to make things cheaper by eliminating packaging and logistics but actually is more expensive than before), and there's increased risk of customers frying their devices with crappy chargers.

  2. Dude, my make or break feature has been removable battery, and oh how that has gone down in history. I tried to use a phone with integrated battery, loved the phone otherwise, but when it came to eventually replacing the battery, I felt like a child asking for premision from my parents, and the process of having to send off my phone for the replacement, it just burnt me bad from integrated batteries.

Currently using Moto G5, and I'll probably keep using it for a few years, though the headphone jack is already pretty janky.

  3. I found this comment of the video called "The REAL reason you don’t get a charger anymore" that somewhat sums up Apple (or any companies) decision for removing those features:
"It’s not Go Green, it’s Go Greed."

  4. I absolutely can't stand notches, pinhole cameras, curved screens, camera bumps, fingerprint sensors under the screen (a sensor on the back or side of the phone is just much more comfortable to use) . I don't care about not having a headphone jack, because the DAC chips in 99.9% of phones, including flagships that still have or had a headphone jack, are worse than 10 eur dongles; but everything else I listed I just can't stand. Every year I look at smartphones and there's progressively less and less phones I'd actually want to use. All that I probably have left as an option are the new Sony's.

I just hope my LG G6 doesn't randomly die on me, been going strong for 5 years, looks like it's been through a quarry, but still works fine and I literally can't find a new phone I'd actually want to use more than this ancient LG.

  5. i hate headphone/earphone. the wiring breaks so easily and a lot of times you lose sound from one ear, or volume gets radically decreased, or both.

I'm all for wireless. my corsair wireless headset has seen some of the most atrocious of ingame wars and the sound is still amazing. wear and tear everywhere, mic is no longer working (i broke it accidentally. i fully own that) but it still sounds almost like brand new.

so unless those wired headphones/earphones get drastically more durable, I'm mostly 50-50 on the entire thing.

  6. This is why I'm still using my iPod nano that I got in 2007. I don't need to worry about the bullshit of getting wireless audio.

  7. Im watching this video with the The new a53 and i'm not too upset about the head phone jack. But i'm more uppsett that you don't get the charger adapter with the phone so I had to borrow my brothers for a while

  8. I avoid all the hassle by not having a smartphone. Fewer points of failure with a traditional phone. it may be more cumberosme but I prefer having dedicated technology for dedicated tasks – if I want music on the go, I'd have a portable music player. Also, say no to wireless. I prefer reliability.

  9. I'm getting always Nokia Phones, they have pure Android (Android One), so no bloatware, great battery life (up to 2 days with music, youtube, surfing, etc.) and also headphone jacks 😉 I got the Nokia 7.2 as my second phone and as my main phone the Nokia x10 and I couldn't be happier. (also reocmmending the Microsoft Launcher, it brings so much more custimization options, and the best, if you don't like it, just remove it from the pbone)

  10. I know the feeling. I went and got an iPhone 8 Plus after my iPhone 6s Plus was having a few problems and looking to upgrade.

Last iPhone with the home button, but I found out after getting it via Amazon it had no headphone jack.

I was so floored. I’m mad.
I love using headphones especially wired.

This is why I love older stuff. Have better feature and more options. I’m going to have to find a Bluetooth headphone.

    Lame.

  11. I'll probably have to upgrade from my Samsung Galaxy S7 soon and I dread it. I'm gonna miss the Android 6 UI and physical home button.

  12. 3:01 3.5mm leads are being removed to sell cordless audio gear. Chargers are removed from the box to sell USB power supplies on the open market.
Sounds like those two things are solutions to corporate issues sold as a "benefit", especially the cordless headphones. I'm surprised that Samsung's phones don't have their proprietary flat lead like their flip-nuggets, bricks and Digital Audio Players once had.

  13. i rather not live in a world where physical headphones dont exist anymore.
i dont want to have to reaserch if an headphone support linux everytime i purchase a new one.
    3.5 mm jacks works always.
not to mention that the batery may die in the midle of a music.
i purchased 2 hybrid headphones for that reason, if the batery die, i use then wired, if i want portability i use then wireless, also they had removable p2 cable, so i could just replace the cable if it broke, and cable use to be the first piece to break.
but that wont do it anymore, i forgot to evaluate the build of the headphone and they broke somewhere else.
another issue is that most headphones that i tested on store had a different sound when you use it pluged or wireless, so i chose the ones who had the same sound while still have a good quality without it.

  14. I use headphones all the time with my phone. But I can't stand earbuds. For the life of me, I can't find earbuds that don't hurt!

I was curious, and finally bought a pair of AfterShoks bone-conduction headphones. I first tried the cheapest model, and they are fantastic on sound, but the microphone for calls is awful.

They finally released a model with a boom mike, and it is absolutely awesome. It weighs almost nothing, stays on your head great, and a charge lasts a ridiculously long time.

With them, you can go about your business, listening to music, podcasts, audiobooks, but still hear what's going on around you. But when you get home, and want pure sound immersion, just put in a pair of cheap foam earplugs, and the bone conduction becomes head filling gorgeous sound, with perfect isolation.

I had handle earplugs because they're soft. Earbuds are heavy and relatively hard, even with those silicone tips. The only thing I don't care for is the charging is no longer USB-C, but a magnetic thing.

The older pair was USB-C, and they charged fast. The magnetics charge fast, too, but I have to carry a cable. Oh, and I carry a short magnetic cable with USB-C, USB-C, and Lightning, on my keychain. But I usually don't need it for my headphones.

Look into bone conduction, I think you'd like it. These headphones have the ATX BLE 5.2, so the latency is almost nothing.

  15. Got me a motorola one hyper, only issue is the battery cap being a little low but the phone came with a 45w brick and a usb-c to usb-c cable for it. Got me a cheap 20000 mah battery pack for during work so its not so bad.

  16. I have one of Nokia's midrange phone options, the 2.4. it came with a case and still has a jack. Cost me about $160. Sure it's version of Android is kind of awkward but once you get used to it it's a pretty damn good phone. The only issue I have with it is the mandatory Google button. That pisses me off to no end. I wish I could reassign the Google button to something I actually use. Also the screen protectors for it are dirt cheap for about 8 bucks for a two pack.

  17. Got my A40 for free (points system for having the plan) with the phone plan that I need anyway for a phone duh

  18. The dumber the phone the smarter its owner, so yeah dumb phones are good.

What isnt are useless and locked phones

  19. The problem with wired headphones is that they don't buy headphone, they buy EARphones, earbuds. Actual headphone cover your ears if not entirely and are more comfortable to wear and the wires while yes will tangle, do not tangle as bad as the earbuds.

  20. Back to Nokia then. Plus we can keep old phone for mp3 replacement I guess. Maybe not work for internet used anymore.. Sad downgraded

Hate wireless for bud because I need 🔌charge it.. No. I have trouble enough with powerbank..what happen if I forgot charge it?

Also I like wires… ( let be real, they want H-e-a-r-i-nn iiiegalsss.. Jack prevent them from hear surrounding)

  21. Instead of getting dumber, technology is just getting needlessly complex and expensive because companies want to appeal to market shareholders and the hipsters who buy this crap

  22. 100% agreed! I was looking to upgrade my phone for fun to only learn the flagships got rid of the micro SD and I am like.. why? …Alot of my data is on the SD card that I use.
WHY WOULD YOU REMOVE IT?! More motherboard space? Nah man…
AND EVEN THE MOST EXPENSIVE VERSIONS DO NOT GIVE ME ENOUGH SPACE! LIKE WHAT?!

I have no idea why so much software and hardware in tech companies are like: "Let's remove this function that you love to use… since it's for the better."

No it's not… you just are removing since you are either A: Lazy or B: Trying to force me to buy something else to replace it wich makes it more messy to do.

Imagine buy a power tool that can do sawing, screwing, drilling and such. But a new version decides to remove the sawing since their powersaw tool you "may need" to cut steel insted of wood is getting a new version.

And don't get me STARTED on tech companies and plugins/programs not working on new version. It's why I prefer "STAYING BEHIND"
Not cause I am a boomer and new tech makes me confused.
No.. it's cause the old tech is superior in functionality then the new one. Sure the new tech is much more effective in the thing it specializes in. But I DONT BUY THINGS TO SPECIALIZE!!
I buy tools and use my own skills to make em more usefull!

  23. Shit like this has been angering me for years. My current phone doesn't have a removable battery but its at least got a headphone jack. I won't buy another new phone anytime soon.

  24. This is one of those things that I was for years called a luddite/pessimist/doomer/etc for predicting. Apparently possessing the bare minimum capacity for pattern recognition required to classify as a human made me a contrarian asshole. And saying "I told you so" invalidates my totally calling it.
