I've just repaired my Bebop 1 camera lens using a $4 180 degree 25mm fish-eye door viewer.. I own 2 Bebop 1 drones, bought my first for $50 it was listed as "Parts only" turned out with new replacement batteries it flies great with nothing wrong with it, I bought my 2nd Bebop 1 for parts for $60 the camera lens was broken leaving the bare housing of the inner lens (inner lens itself was removed from its housing, which I found in the box under the molded cardboard for the Sky controller). After watching a few Bebop camera repair videos here on YouTube I decided to try repair it (no loss if it didn't work), I installed the inner lens back into its housing, I had to shave about 8mm from the out side of the door viewer lens so it fitted tightly into the lens housing, I also put the lens securing ring back on it. I then wrapped the inner housing with 3 layers of electrical tape to make a snug fit into the main camera housing pushing it in as far as it would go (back to its original position, no gluing was needed).. After putting the foam nose cone back on the drone you cant even tell it has been repaired except for the colour difference in the lens I was skeptical that it would actually work but I put a battery in the drone connected to the wifi with Freeflight pro n WOW it works great with a crystal clear video image.. I'm most happy with my $4 repair sure beats $280 for a replacement camera …
Hey how did you remove the inner lense ? the video makes it look like it simply slips in and out… no.. I have a bebop 1 with a broken camera only both outer and inner lenses were damaged leaving the empty housing of the inner lense, its gotta come out so I can put the new one in….
Great video Maxime, I'm getting one of these drones but the camera lens is cracked. This helped a lot, will be using these methods. Better than paying a lot of money for the whole camera when you can just fix the lens. Thanks again ! 🙂
dont use hot glue of super glue use 3m double sided sticky tape, draw around it cut out, cut in two bits AND REMOVE THE CENTE
do you have a link of the lens
my lens is broken what is the best option
Maxime ayotte who is better option for camera? Door viewer or the camera lens? I scracth my parrot disco camera and i order the same lens of yours. I replace only the lens in parrot camera right?
GoPro replacement lense fits exact and it 10$ fyi
This is replacing not repairing
Hello Maxime, Great tutorial. thanks for that! With my bebop 2 power I tried the first method using a Abus door viewer. Unfortunatly the camera it totally out of focus now. Is there a possiblity to adjust the focal length? I found out, that there are 2 more smaller lenses in the corpus of the door viewer. Maybe I should use an other, cheaper model. What do you think?
Je suis français est j'ai une question est ce que la première méthode abîme la vision ou pas et qu'elle est la meilleure méthode ?
Good to know, thanks. I'm so close to buying one but it's the different video quality videos I'm finding on YouTube. Some look great and others look terrible. Did you upgrade yours to the latest firmware update and did you find an improvement?
I would rather have a smaller field of view but sharper image. I was wondering if the fish eye contributes to the slightly blurry video. Why would the fish eye have anything to do with the stabilization? Isn't that controlerd by software? Thanks

Should I put the camera near close to the sensor?
Hi, just ordered this part :
https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B01MF4HJNJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
You cut by 2mm the house of the existing lens and replace + seal it, the job is done 😉

Does it need to be replaced with a fish eye lens?
