  1. I was at a bar in Tokyo the other day in VR.. and just sat there and imagined if I were there … I imagined the local club scene environment and tried to merge them with what I was viewing to get a better feel of what was happening inside this Tokyo club…. it was cool to see people do the same thing we do differently.

  2. Yes !! VR can't only be for playing shooting/killing, horror and driving games. There is much more to it. It can help for meditation, subconscious reprogramming. That is why I'm getting a headset.

  3. Although the problems described by the presenter in humanity may be real, I am still unable to agree with his claim that embodied experience in VR is the best way of understanding. From a generation that grew up on books, TV, radio and cinema (and also slides ;)) , I am perfectly able to understand and empathize with things like aging without being subject to an aging simulation in VR. Certain religions like Buddhism which deal with the mind also have texts that ask the seekers to meditate on things like aging, disease and human suffering to gain insight. Why do we need VR ? Further, (and I may be a Luddite here), I would like more research done on exposure to long term VR headsets on humanity. I had my first VR experience at the local mall where I had to walk a simple plank with a VR headset. I was unable to do it. This is really powerful technology but maybe it is just a solution looking for a problem in many cases. Further, and pardon my cheekiness, what is the difference between VR and cartooning at a conceptual level? Will VR be a category at the Oscars?

  4. let me tell you this. before using VR Technology, my thoughts were flat, at least what i thought visually. after using VR Technology I started thinking visually in 3D as if i was wearing a headset, normally happening when i close my eyes. I also believe the level of immersion can help me and people in understanding cognitively the difference between reality and virtual reality, at least people who regularly use the internet and flat games. its a very revealing experience. but i do worry the direction VR Technology is going. If children grow up with it, then its possible that when they develop mental health problems that the experience of VR might not be enough to help them.
