  1. Simbot… simulation-generated biological robot that mindlessly perpetuates the sim agenda and status quo. No matter how idiotic and wrong the sim agenda and status quo might be.

Since simbots are incapable of autonomous thinking, they mindlessly destroy everything, smugly and self-righteously doing their simbot thang.

  2. This proof that in out life has no free will in this vr simulation..our job is just experiencing the life …but I still believe we are able to do something in future..such as we create a new universe and switch our conciousness to that universe we fully control…I don't know…

  3. Fantastic talk, well done how you led us to your logical point. Everything possible will be monitored & evaluated. As an original backer & fan of the Rift, I am also aware of FB wanting to track what we do in VR. Right now they are trying to create compelling content & get eyeballs initially. Later in future versions, they will be able to read eye tracking, vocal content, & other bodily functions leading to analyzing & knowing your inclinations almost before you are aware of them. I expect there will be some push back as people become aware, but over time bit by bit it will become normalized & accepted. 🙁

  4. "Hi my name is (generic american name) and I'm here to explain what you probably already know or don't care enough to learn about VR. I'll make shitty jokes and speak in a way that makes me seem intelligent so you'll keep paying attention. I actually don't know what the fuck I'm talking about but the person speaking in my ear does."

  5. sub-zero moment of truth sounds like the old MLK-ULTRA conspiracy theory. Either she has been watching Info Wars or she came up with the same conclusion, without knowing it and given it a new name.

  6. Second Life with an Oculus.
    Or Project Sansar…

People have already proven they're not ready. They still think it's the SL platform that's at fault. It would be like everyone saying your Internet Explorer is at fault for all the adult content online.

  7. Ana, Great talk. I believe we need an internet where nothing is free and everything costs money–nanocents for every email, post, upload, comment, audio streamed, or video downloaded, or newspaper or blog post that we read. For about $2 per person per month we could get rid of all web advertising, and have that money go more to creators and less to search engines and social media data vacuum companies. Charging would have the benefit of reducing spam, getting rid of linkbait listicles, and loads of other socially useless activity that is incentivized by a pay-per-click economy.

  8. Wow! You are absolutely amazing. So glad to see that not only are there people trying to design a positive virtual world, but also there are fellow Torontonians doing the same! I actually have the opportunity to work with Occupied which was cool to hear you talk about them.

But seriously. Everything you're saying is true. We can't make the same mistakes that were made before with adverts and manipulation. The fact that Facebook bought Oculus IS a little startling and might want to be something to look further into.
