IGN is the same people who went on and on about how good a Pokémon game was, before giving it a 7.8 and summarising the main negative aspect of the game as “too much water”
And this is why reviews are not particularly relevant anymore. So called journalists that can't even string together a coherent sentence, let alone understand the game that they are playing. Replace the reviewer with a couple of screenshots and a potato rolling randomly on they keyboard and you'll end up with a better end product. Oh hey, money saving plan for IGN right there. That's cool IGN, i accept cash, checks and paypal.
You make good points, as always. Keep up the good work man.
Bro I’ve been a Kazooya Mashima main since Tekken 1! Back then I was doing sick delay catches with my electrification god punch
Ironic how tekken 7 has arguably the weakest character customization out of the entire series
Harada, please leave the nrs style story modes to you know nrs. The story mode was indeed poorly executed I think the choice of narration was the worst bit and they squandered alot of opportunity to explore the story before tekken 4. They should just focus on tekken force style story modes in future for the casual player base cause at least you are still playing tekken in some form and can choose your own character. It also could be a good opportunity to teach game mechanics like movement (side walking flaming barrels, or learning to back dash falling obstacles) I'm sure the possibilities could be endless here.)
for a beginner who doesnt have previous experience of tekken, the story mode is there to give them some lore to grasp, it is kinda crucial not because of the relationship, but the image they gonna build in their mind, giving the characters some back story, and reimagine as themselves while playing it.
The emphasis is on offline / single player mode, it is because at that time, none of the fighting games were focussing on online mode except sf5, and sf5 was being bashed for not including arcade mode.
I bought tekken 7 because of the offline content in the beginning, i treasured the story mode, the customization, the treasure battles, and the bowling. Only through that, i finally give in and tried online mode.
From the pov of a new comer, this review is on point. Because they need a gateway to trust the online content. Now my main activity on steam is tekken 7 online ranking, if the game has no story mode like negan, julia or any season pass characters, i wont be that involved.
Mashima.

This is driving me nuts, what is the background track you keep using. I wanna say it's Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles but something is saying that's not right.
I think you're coming at it from a pretty unfair angle. He has to acknowledge everything the game has to offer in the review, it's the point. This video kinda felt like cyberbullying haha. Surely a Tekken fan doesn't need to read an IGN review to find out if it's worth the buy
Wat?
I don't understand why they left out Tekken Force. That was a great mode to change things up.. If you don't know about Tekken by now after 9 games, just stick to Mario bros..
When Tekken 7 for console was first introduced one of the things they were trying to push/use as a marketing tool was the smooth transition between cut scene and fighting in the story mode. I imagine the writer was, in some ways, parroting the hype that Namco wanted out there just like Tekken VR is only in there to encourage a wider audience to buy it. (Tekken VR is crap)
> IGN bruh
the story mode is trash indeed and the reviewer focused on the wrong thing but you said it yourself dude. this is the general consumer's review. so why would u even waste your time on reviewing this? its not a legitimate review of whats rlly good in tekken indeed but general players wouldnt know that unless they dived into the idea of fighting games anyway. so this in my opinion is a shitty analysis dude. i recommend you shouldve talked about fighting games and how to bring it into the mainstream instead.
Even though I absolutely agree with everything you say…
You could literally produce content telling people to "eat rocks" in the manner which you communicate and I'd buy it. Passion's a rare trait these days and you ooze it. Keep it up!
I wish we get a Tekken 7.2 storymode with the addition of all the season pass legacy characters and new cutscenes like in the opening of the game. I mean look at this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqN62G4h0hQ Those cutscenes must mean something besides being there right? Are they planning on expanding the story? or a teaser for Tekken 8?
And review a fighting game by its story or customization gives me another stroke
I love watching people well versed in a subject talk about not-so-well versed people's opinions. Good video.
I have a stroke eveytime someone says Tekken is a mash button game
wat.
I play for the fight money?
Not the most flattering thumbnail of my main but it works lol
Well this is a very interesting video concept. I like it. Good stuff

story modes in video games are like stories in porno, just a weird dance of trying to show legitimacy to the outsiders
