  1. From March 2010 to October 2015 I rocked the HTC HD2 as my only phone (and rooted and ROM'ed the crap out of it) and it cost $450. I loved that phone with a passion. Since November 2015 I've rocked the LG V10 with almost the same passion (just wish the hacker community had shown this phone half as much love as the HD2) and it cost me $650. I buy my phones straight up and I make em last. The lack of software updates from LG/T-Mobile for my V10 since Android 7.0 is what's going to force me to upgrade soon. If by some miracle they were to push out an official Oreo update, or even an Oreo ROM on XDA for my T-Mobile variant, I would keep using this phone for another two years! But, that's the game isn't it? Force perfectly good hardware to be "obsolete" due to lack of software support. To be fair, LG took the V10 all the way from Lollipop 5.1.1 up to Nougat 7.0. But, even Samsung has taken the S7 from Marshmallow to a Oreo at this point and the S7 came out only five months after the V10. Guess my next phone is going to have to be either a Pixel or some other stock Android phone. No, I will not consider iOS.

  2. These are all 500+ Euro phones. This is what mid range is now ! How do people justify spending so much money for phones, though for most people they don't lead to better productivity or tangible gains !

  3. I have been buying LG phones since the V10, but I've never recommended anyone get flagship phones since almost as long. The majority of people I know just aren't using their phones for any purpose that justifies the expense of a flagship. Having said all that, I like buying flagship phones because…I do. Still, I'm almost certain that if this V40 isn't my last phone for a while (for a while), it will be an S10+ or Note 10 now that Samsung has added the wide angle lens and improved the sound quality.

  4. I like the fact that you encourage people to see beyond the “Galaxies and the iPhones”. There are many smartphones for considerably less price that are just as capable. Unfortunately tech reviewers seem to live by the idea that you need to spend near $1000 to get the best just for the sake of having “the best” when in reality we should purchase what covers our needs (and doesn’t hurt our budget) the most.

  5. Where else can I buy the view20 other than Amazon in the USA?? Amazon wants 760 dollars for the phone. That's galaxy s10e territory

  6. I've noticed myself buying more midrangers lately having owned the 6T, View 20, and even trying out the Pocophone F1. I feel that I'm not missing out on anything at all not even the wireless charging or the water resistance.

  7. As much I like you and your content, 700 dollars is not mid range! 400-500 dollars is mid range! 700 is (should be) flagship. Nokia 9 is flagship no matter how you look at it. LG G6 had last years cpu when it launched, was still trading blows with the other phones at the time.

  8. Unfortunately, not everywhere these phones are priced accordingly. They're way more expensive, insignificantly less than so called real flagships. In my country OP 6 (without T) is over 700$ while LG G7 is 550 and and XZ3 is 690 in official stores. Honor V20 256gb is slightly less than S10e:(
These companies obviously allow affordable prices only in huge markets. Sooner or later, they will all become Samsung:) they already are in some parts.

  9. Speaking of awareness, I've also made a similar video covering this topic on my channel. Let me know if you want to hear my point of view

  10. I have yet to see a budget flagship competitor to OnePlus in the US. The One and 3T set such a high bar for me that if the Pixel 4 disappoints, I'm gonna look at that 7T with intent to purchase.

  11. Juan, great video. This is the year that I officially wrote off flagships. I value my money and can't think of a reason why I would need a device that costs over $1000. Especially when I'm getting great performance from my 6t at nearly half the price.

  12. Thank you! Yes!
I paid $650 for my LG V10 when it came out. I had to justify that cost to myself through the fact that they gave me a 200GB microSD card and an extra battery and a separate, standalone battery charger for the removable batteries all for free. I still have this V10. I'm on it right now. It's my only phone. I love this phone but know it's time for an upgrade. Honestly though, besides the uniqueness of the ASUS and Razor phones nothing, hardware-wise, is compelling enough for me to justify the ridiculous price points these new phones are at. My gf has an S9+, I have a couple friends with a Note 9 and the OnePlus 6T, my dad has the newest iPhone. I've played with these phones and besides the stylus stuff with the Note NONE of them are really doing anything different or better than my V10. The hardware's still perfectly fine, I'm just being more and more restricted by Android 7.0.

  13. Axon 7 from 2016 still running strong here..got it on Black Friday 2016 and just 2 weeks back replaced the battery..its's back to how fast it was in the beginning..the way I see it, I can easily make it last at least this year and maybe next year too. The audio jack output is truly something, while I do not care for camera quality, so everything's a win win
