1/10 there wasn't enough shooting and action to keep my short attention span intrigued…
This review is just poor. It barely even scratches the surface of what the series is all about.
TOO LINEAR?! Its court ffs of course it needs to be linear or there will be too much bs
It's a visual novel so it doesn't have much gameplay in it.
Those dislikes were all I needed to know that this is a bad vid…
IGN can't find a single person on their staff who knows what a visual novel is, or has played these types of games before? The reviewers knowledge of the subject matter is pathetic.
90% of the gameplay is just pressing a button to skip to the next dialogue
So what? Have ubever played visual novel game?

LITTLE GAMEPLAY
I just bought this game today and it's fine but it's just not very believable. It feels like I'm reading a novel and am reading stuff that would sound kind of silly in a real court room. I know human interaction isn't easy to integrate but it just sort of kills the mood when it's not as spontaneous as it could be.
Even though it would be a huge derail from the rest of the series, I wish more of the cutscenes that you didn't have to mine for info were in the anime style and not the traditional style
Problem with these games, is you can't make decisions as you would if you were in those situations. Instead, you have to make decisions based on what you think the developer's rationale is. There were many times when the game's info on things like how guns work were wrong. Also plenty of times when I tried presenting the obvious evidence that would prove my argument, but I would get penalized because that's not what was intended for some arbitrary reason.
Lol cant really understand why people still take IGN seriously. This company is an joke.
This sounds like an extremely minimalistic version of LA Noire
Is this review for real? I mean even if Ace Attorney is a novel, it can be good to some extent…
Seriously?! Little gameplay? IGN just hates visual novels. I you don't know what I mean, check out their Ghost Trick review. It got 8.5 for "Too Wordy".
OBJECTION! First, "too linear and little gameplay" you clearly dont understand what visual novel is. Second, GOOFY?! I mean yes, it has that special type of humour specific for AA series which we all know know and love, but this is emotional rollercoaster for fan of series, or even a person who is at least a little familiar with its word and characters! Did you at least TRIED to play the game? I mean, ESBR gave it M rating and for a good reason!
Should I get this or spirit of justice?
Just so you know… Infinite Warfare got 7.7
Objection!!! Score too low for a good visual novel
Guess I found the guy who does the South Park reviews.
I mean, it's not like he was necessarily wrong about what he said about the game.
But really, they should have had a different person review this game. Seems like visual novels in general aren't his thing.
7.2 Too much legal stuff. -IGN
When you rate a visual novel bad because of the lack of gameplay then you need brain surgery
Ace Attorney fans seem to get offended pretty easily. When someone says out loud that the series could do more than it's currently doing, people start an uproar like "hngh but it's supposed to be like that!" without giving it a consideration what if Ace Attorney could actually do more?
As a visual novel it's only okay tbh. I used to think that Ace Attorney was the best thing out there, but the I played Zero Escape series and really understood how impactful visual storytelling can be. The novel parts were more interestingly written, and completing escape-the-room sections was more enjoyable than clicking crimes scenes.
Overall I think that Ace Attorney could also include a lot more puzzle elements to the game to make it more interactive. It has tried to do it with Psyche locks, Logic Chess and stuff, but all these are just slight variations of the things you would normally do. Apart from storytelling all there is now is point-and-click gameplay done very basicly: the most annoying thing is that even when there is a bit of interactivity, the player is held by the hand like: "you have to now use luminol in this part of the room to find bloodtraces" or "look at this item from all angles to see anything suspicious".
The reticle used in the investigation scenes was a bit annoying in 3D mode btw. When your vision was focused on the background, you saw the reticle in two because it was on your face and you can't focus your eyes on 2 things at a time. It should have been always on the same depth layer where it was pointing
IGN: "OBJECTION" "It's not Call Of Duty therefore it is not good. Case Closed".
So ign won't give dual destinies a higher rating because you have to press a on a role playing game, well I guess that means ign don't like all the other ace attorney games because that's what u do
OBJECTION! IT'S A VISUAL NOVEL!
IGN hated on a visual novel game because its a visual novel game… And I thought GameSpot was bad…
ITS LINEAR SO IT IS BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
''Too little gameplay''
I don't think IGN knows what a visual novel is. That's like giving a platformer a bad score for not having RPG elements.
OBJECTION!!! The game is a story driven plot and is meant to be studied carefully. That's like saying the walking dead is bad because you barely actually play.
Is the ios version as good, I played the first chapter and I loved it, but I don't know if it's as good as the 3ds, I don' t have a 3ds so should I get the ios version or should I wait till' I get a 3ds
just because you badly reviewed this game that I decided to buy and play it. Thanks IGN.
Ign you know what a visual novel is right?
2018 anyone
