If you think about it, with Android having something like 85% of the mobile market and thousands of devices, this means that the feedback for flaws and improvements is going to be very quick and with a high volume, which provides clear direction. Improvements will accelerate (and clearly have in recent years). I don't think it is reasonable to expect that Apple can actually keep up with that and they have to innovate without feedback which is very difficult to do continually…
