  1. I don’t know why I don’t like this video. Something about the tone and pace. Take your time, as you’ve always done MKBHD. I’ll wait for the full review.

  2. I still can't get over how hot my pixel 7 gets sometimes, especially when I am recording video outside. It'll literally just stop recording because it's overheating.

  3. Don't forget to give the ultrasonic fingerprint reader a good test. It's literally a feature most people use tens of times per day and if it doesn't work well it is a big hit to the quality of life of the phone.

  4. You know what Google conveniently didn't mention about all the AI stuff? PRIVACY.
Everything you do, see and say is logged to the cloud (and then sold to advertisers).
I'd rather have fully offline like Apple.

  5. In my opinion, these smartphones are an absolute waste of money. Especially the above 1000$ ones.

I'm using a pixel 7, it was 300€ second hand and it basically does everything these above 1000$ flagships do. I mean, 99.999999% of the time I'm using it for WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube, Reddit, calls or photo's and the pixel 7 is super snappy there. The pictures are almost if not entirely undistinguishable between newer pixels and the pixel 7. And for AI, the useful features, such as selecting pictures and text from the app screen, are also there…. To me it seems like 99.99% of the people shouldn't spend more than 600€ on a phone. Also battery life is not really improving, screen/body ratio peaked a couple of years ago.
These 0.001% who need it are in the weird Spot of actually needing the extra power for their influencer life without buying a full size camera + laptop for whatever reason. Or maybe they see it as a hobby, tech can also be a hobby and I feel that.

  6. I've own 2 generations of google phones and sadly have experienced multiple QC issues in both phones. Very anecdotal, but I gave em a chance and I wanted to try one of those chinese brands with the crazy fast charging anyways.

  7. I have an old pixel 7 Pro. The 5x camera is the one I like most. It is good quality and gives the chance to take really nice portraits with a shallow depth of field

  8. For me AI in phones and gadgets feels the same way as Ray-Tracing was introduced in GPUs years ago – a nice feature to have but not that important. Something tells me it's not going to be used that much
