Hope they review Trails into Reverie if they can review other long Jrpgs.
Another reason i can’t pull the trigger on an Xbox WHERE ARE THE EXCLUSIVE GAMES
This game was INCREDIBLE. A generation defining game in my opinion.
About 1/3 of the way through and this is already one of the best games I've ever played. My top 3 FFs for sure along with FF7 and FF8.
This score just screams "Don't Blacklist Us, SquareEnix". Game is an easy 6/10. If it wasn't for how good the story is, it would be lower.
9? lol this game its not a final fantasy. Its a shame FF
I love the game so much. The only thing I cannot stand is the borderline intolerable motion blur. I tried turning up my sensitivity because the default is so low and I about threw up from motion sickness. I hope they patch it soon.
You're almost always right with your reviews. So im sold.
First 15 or so hours feel frustratingly superficial. It’s so automated that it feels like a mobile game. I’m hoping the game becomes more engaging with a better sense of player agency.
Is the entire game really dark or is it just the clips they've chosen?
"A final fantasy game through and through" – where? lol
"Crafting detailed characters" – oh yeah. One million men and 2 female stereotypes.
I can already tell that this isn't going to be an honest review, and not even slightly critical. I mean. Enjoy whatever you like. But don't lie. This isn't a final fantasy game, it's just a character action game in the hollowed out husk of a final fantasy game.
I don't understand the hype at all. It's all sizzle and no steak. It's just ff13 but without an engaging combat system and without a party. Just corridors with some enemies and then movie segments in between button mashing slap fights. No thank you.
Great review and performance issues well highlighted. Any news on patches from the developers?
Amazing review as always <3
Whenever i see FF 16 Brad, Damiani and Ben comes to mind, i wonder if ben is enjoying the game
Cidiphilus, Byron, Joshua, Wade, Torgal, all amazing characters with deep relationships. Jill, I have to say I’m a little disappointed with at 10 hours in. I feel like a lot of her facial expressions are missing (or maybe that’s just the person she is?) and her character hasn’t really gripped me like a lot of the others. Too bad she’s the one you’re most often with =___=“ like, childhood was fine, reunion was fine, but after that I really didn’t feel the same sort of chemistry or impact I felt with other interactions between characters. But this is my opinion and we all know how opinions are received online!
How the F can anyone give this pile of shite a 9?!!! And people calling this trash GOTY? F*ckin hell. No wonder most games are bad nowadays when trash like this is called as GOTY.
There are so many issues in this game like the bad hollow simplistic side quests. The FILLER missions between each "destroy mother crystal" missions.
And the annoying NO variation mission design of go to person A and do 2-3 missions for him/her before he/she provides you the info.
The only thing that was pushing me through this pile of shite was its decent story. And even that turned out to be a cliche final fantasy story.
Am so done with this franchise. Always disappoints.
And on top of this, PlayStation runs this game at such a bad performance. The stupid console can't even run it at 60fps even though the game looks so bad (visually) in framerate mode.
I'm getting lots of Tales of Arise vibes playing the game, and Clive also reminds me of Alphen.
The combat system seems very similar to star ocean 6
Does Skill Up not review new games anymore?
Jones to a game review is what Attenborough is to a documentary: the gold standard.
Not that it matters, since I haven't even played the game and can't judge it as of now, but why do you describe the game as a 10/10 experience and than give it a 9/10? The only negative I heard in the video was something about some towns not being at 60FPS. Is that something to subtract an entire point for? Are you holding back for some reasons or did you subtract points for something which wasn't mentioned in the video?
And now I need to find ~60 hours of time to play while my newborn child is sleeping.
Sometimes I wish bigger companies would headhunt Brandon so more people could hear his voice.
I'll still wait for a sale. Back when GT was still around, the review of XIII was also similarly glowing.
I will wait for the PC version. 30fps is a no go and it can't even hit a steady 60fps in 720p.
Awesome review as always!! Love how quick you guys posted it!
Guise!! It works on release!!
Hel has frozen over!!!
This game is so amazing. Ya know how hard it was not to call out from work today? Lol
Of course I’m happy about the FF series continuing to thrive in the modern era but still disappointed about the change in direction with its combat as it continues to evolve throughout the years.
I'm a couple hours in the game now and it's a good game. BUT, it doesnt feel like a final fantasy at all, you can "Replay Stage in arcade mode"….Wtf is that, its barely a rpg, more of an action kind of game. Not a real FF to me for now…
