Before cell phones nobody cared or felt like they were missing out on anything cause they were perfectly fine without them for at least 50 or so years
I had a black startac great phone.
Best phone ever made the Motorola bag phone worked anywhere never had to worry about signal.
I never had a pager, though my brothers and friends had one.
For some reason I can imagine that being thicker but maybe it was because I was a kid when I held it but it looks so skinny that's why I didn't want to buy a reproduction when they came out I was trying to find the thicker earlier model

gotta say that I’m impressed the tech, and the speed which tech advances is absolutely incredible. Just think about the fact that we now have full in DSLR’s in our phones. Processors millions of times as powerful that took a man to the moon. And audio equipment in our ears and encoders that sounds better than studio equipment in the 70s and 80s. This is absolutely incredible how far we’ve come. I would like to say a big thank you to all of the engineers and electricians and physicists that made us this beautiful technology that we use everyday.

the star tac was the coolest phone at the time, it was one of the smallest and most compact phones and the first flip phone that kick started the trend of the flip phones, it's only the rainbow colour that made it look like a toy, but it's super dope, it deserves it's own dedicated video on retrotec in my opinion
