Should I forget building my next Ryzen 7 based PC for video editing and buy this instead?
I loved this M2 Mac Mini but Apple is charging Rs.20,000 extra just to add another 8GB stick of RAM in the base model. One stick of 8GB DD5 RAM is Rs.3k max. Even when they make a good product, they can't help trying to rip us off.
But too bad they gimped the SSD on the base M2 Mac Mini. That's a NON-STARTER. It's slower than even the M1 Mac Mini. APPLE FAIL
Add a Mac mini to your home theater setup.
You’ll thank me later.
I would argue that Apple is making a very intelligent business decision with these devices. While all other hardware companies (Intel, AMD, NVIDIA) are increasing their prices due to supply chain issues/inflation, Apple has somehow been able to regularly increase the performance of their Apple Silicon processors while decreasing the price? Apple may be leveraging their massive money reserves in order to secure marketshare. No other company is able to come close this performance at the $599 price point (reminder, down from $699). It just doesn't make financial sense to buy anything other than Apple Silicon if you need the performance.
There is also the fact that Apple is benefiting using the same processors in multiple types of devices (iPad, MacBook Air/Pro, desktop lineup, etc) that they may be able to use their economy of scale to get cheaper parts and materials.
Now give us the M2 pro mac mini with Linux and I may be tempted to buy a Apple again.
It's better if you don't need a monitor. Also the base spec is still super low, 8gb ram, 256 hard drive.
Any Deep Learning/Machine Learning Developer here? How's the performance doing those stuff on Mac OS? Never tried OS other than Linux and Windows.
I think we'll be seeing a lot of this new generation of Mac Minis in use on college campuses and school media labs as these places upgrade from the intel iMacs that were everywhere a few years agp
Making Something compact that cannot run cyberpunk 2077 with ray tracing is child’s play.

looking like an M2 and a top tier monitor is the best option. even with a $400 monitor on top it would still be cheaper than every single M2, M2 pro, M2 Max & M1 Pro “refurbished” option on the market. Game changer. I have an xbox series S that i do all of my non school things on that i bring to & from college anyway, so this would completely replace that console and be more comfortable to do work/school from dorm/home.
Does the M2 still throttle hard drive write speeds with 128gig hard drive?
I am looking to replace my work laptop. I am leaning towards Mac Mini M2 base model. Will it be worth to buy a portable display along with it?
I'd take a refurb 14" M1 Pro in clamshell over the MacMini M2 Pro base for an extra $300.
The production and editing in your videos is always extremely high quality. I don't think there are many other channels that can match it. Great video as usual
Niiice alliteration at the end there – made my ears prick up just as I was tuning out. 😁
8GB RAM and 256GB SSD is kind eh in 2023. You can't even get 16GB of RAM without going for the top-tier model.
Hay Marques, you may want to delete this review and start again after reading the test results.
Happy to hear the iconic “ hey what’s up MKBHD here”😅❤
You ruined it in the first 30 seconds…
Best displays to use for this? 🤔
Hey Marques does the lack of hardware support for the av1 codec bother you at all ?
