It feels like you've just reviewed the 1st gen Moto 360 watch. Great potential but so much work to be done, and that was back in 2014!
Was waiting for this one…i had seen some tweets that weren't flattering, but most likely, going to hold off and unlike a lot of people these days, I wear a real watch almost daily (Tag Heuer or Cartier). Fingers crossed for future generations of the watch.
I’ve got a Fitbit that gives me 5 to 6 days on one charge with constant heart rate monitoring. Yes, it’s not a smart watch but I’m not convinced this kills battery.
So, now Google should make a separate watchband for sleeping. How indifferent has MKBHD become from normal users.
oh yes let's put up a paywall after selling that 2016 thing for $350. what could go wrong
no complaints for me on the pixel watch have mines set to the same settings as my 44mm galaxt watch 4 and my pixel watch lasted 35hrs on a single charge .
Never buy gen 1
I feel like my problem with biggest problem with smart watches has always been the battery life. To the point that basically I've kinda given up on smart watches being my regular watch for now. My Galaxy Watch 4….is used basically for fitness tracking. Same with my previous Fossil Gen 5, and etc with my first two smart watches before that. I mean what's the use of all that functionality if you have to purposely limit usage to make sure you can make it through a full day.
The reality that theme is true for plenty of things in this digital world of tech we're building. I feel what we really need is a battery revolution if we want to keep pushing a lot of these things. Larger phones have acceptable batteries I suppose it but could be better would be nice if I didn't HAVE to charge every single day (wireless charging does help). Electric cars love to advertise range but without MUCH faster charging rates they still remain more of a compromise than a true replacement for reliable old ICEs.
We're becoming super reliant on plugs being nearby. Whereas a $30 Casio has a ten year battery life, and a Seiko 5 never needs to be charged at all. I don't want to have to monitor my watch as much as it's monitoring me just because I have a long active day ahead of me.
We need a battery revolution.
Another top notch review MKBHD! I am totally still going to get the watch though. I had a moto 360 and I can deal with charging it here and there. Glad it charges fast though, they must've brought that from the FitBit Sense, this thing has crazy fast charging.
I actually really like that it pings the heart rate every second so I just wish it was a bit bigger with a bigger battery and that's it.
I can easily understand the independency of Do Not Disturbs modes between the phone and the watch. To be honest, I would only use DND on the phone all the time and track the notifications from the watch.
Great reviewed, google listens to you, I'm sure they will push update to fix many of the watch's hiccups.
The short battery life may be an issue. I like the battery life on my Fitbit Sense.
The price for what you're getting is not good.
I'd pay maaaybe 15 bucks for this shit
Sounds like hopefully some of this stuff can be fixed with software updates
After almost 10 years of content, first time I see marquess tattoo, I think is the prime numbers.
This is qhat i have been waiting for, a round smart watch. But I am gonna skip this and stick with my garmin smart watch.
why do you have an OP-Z Marques?
And then there's me, still waiting for the galaxy watch review
The paywall definitely leaves a bad taste in my mouth, to see the data from all the sensors you're already paying for.
There's great potential here, but as always you'll be better of waiting for the second gen to fix the first gen oversights
Software fragmentation from Google and it’s own hardware is so common they may as well market it as a feature subscription to use features on my own watch, ummm are the serious
.
We welcome wonderfully-well-wrought wordings with whispered "wow"s.
I live in UK here we get free pixel watch with the pixel 7 pro pre order so I can't really complain. battery life is not good but it's fun to use the watch nonetheless.
