Hey Marques, the pen doesn't actually need to be charged at all if used just as a pen.
The battery is there only for Bluetooth to use the gestures. Btw also S7+ has magnets on the side to hold the pen.

the size is overrated , the suitable size should be not above 12 inches.
Just a little side note, the Spen doesn't need to be charged to be used as a stylus, the battery is only needed for the remote functionalities aka air commands
