I am not sharp in your field, … this is true. I do ask a question, as I am learning. Are they not a lot of coins with less than 21 million coins? If what you are saying about inflation……. a set amount of coins? What happens when all coins are maxed out? Would they not be just as valuable? Sure Bitcoin got the head start, but tech is always getting better. I am sure netscape thought they were the best, Aol, Tabacco, Ford model T, etc…….. Just a thought, only.

Bitcoin is not impossible to inflate. Back in 2010, there was a bug and an attacker created billions of bitcoins. Satoshi was still around then and the issue was fixed quickly.
Then there was the more recent September 2018 inflation bug that was silently patched.
There doesn't even have to be a bug, the total supply cap can be changed in the code, it's just hard to do that and reach consensus. So bitcoin, like gold, is hard to inflate, not impossible.

You can inflate Bitcoin by endlessly inventing new alternative coins and their forks. So far almost all of those coins die off and Bitcoin is getting a bigger market share due to investors getting scammed with these alternative coins.
