shenmue 1 and 2 were made ages ago, they intentionally made it feel like those games to bridge the time gap and to not make it feel too different. this game is for the fans more than trying to please graphic whores …. "doesnt hold up to modern day standards" is classic ign. absolutely clueless and one dimensional thinking.
This game is fan service and it delivers well in my opinion so if new fans come but if u don’t like it keep it to your self

Te score isnt a surprise, its a fan service game so if youre a fan of the original two than you will love this game no matter what. If youre a new comer than forget it, it isnt going to appeal to you especially since the story take place exactly where the second one left off.

I disagree with the review but I can respect it. Shenmue certainly isn't a game that will appeal to everyone and while I am ecstatic that it plays like it was made 2 decades ago, I recognize that this is something that is rather divisive

yeah but there is no modern dsy standard. the only modern day standard is graphics and visuals and that is not something that should be taken in consideration while talking about a game. just because your standards are defined by major triple A releases doesnt mean games apart from the usual formula dont exist
I'm looking forward to buying this game for Christmas. To be honest, this game has never been about graphics, it was always about the story and the unique world you role play in. As long as there's no bad glitches or bugs, I'm happy.
Spoony explained this well…if the story has hooked you, you're pretty much set for life. It's a guilty and cheesy pleasure.
I dunno. For a Kickstarter, I'm pretty impressed. Hopefully they get more money to improve on shenmue 4
