If I can actually get too 100 in sportsman I’m definitely going
I say play in both until your comfortable but for the qualifiers really sit back and think of where your at in racing. I know I’m still in sportsman, I’m definitely not good enough for pro. But I do get forced into the pro class all the time bc of lack of racers at some events. I have only been dead last in pro 1 time, my very first pro race I got last. But since I have been in the bottom 5 but not dead last. Lol. I know this weekend it will prolly be the same. I think we only have 8 racers set to race so I’m sure I’ll be stuck in pro again. But with it being a qualifier I’m not sure.

I was in the sports class after one event, i can't wait for my second chance. We'll be doing one here in Fort Worth, Tx – Cowtown Drone Racing August 24th.
It would be cool to go to one or even both of those big events.
IO was so much fun and I met soo many people. It's also Wednesday-Saturday so there are more days. You can fly as many packs as you want.
Seriously as many as you want! there were like 6 separate tracks set up that were all running at the same time.

My biggest beef here is that if you are going to make a decision based on your likelihood to compete in a bracket, then you should understand how the bracket works at nationals first. At both Sports and Pro class championships the top 80 positions will qualify for brackets. The top 40 will qualify for the "championship" bracket and the next 40 will qualify for the consolation bracket. That probably doesn't change your mindset too much, but it's at least worth considering.
As far as Pro vs Sports class, I think you'll definitely have a better chance at more packs for sports. However, I think you're also discounting the awesomeness of being there for the event that is the pro championship. Watching something like Headsup vs Vanover live is incredible. Interacting and learning from as many top level pilots as you can is an amazing and unique experience.
lastly, you ask about IO vs champs. There is no comparison. If you can only do one, you should do IO.
This is the problem with skill based classes. The classes need to be hardware based. The purpose would be that the lower classes would literally be so slow that the higher skilled pilots will be bored with it and want to move up. Contestants should only be allowed in one class.
