  1. Off topic. I cannot believe how much a 65 inch screen has come down in price $500>$700 out the door. I admit I haven't been looking for one but I try to stay on top of whats happening in the industry. It seems like yesterday when a 40 or 50 inch screen was 3k!

  2. You should do your next video with your selfie camera facing a mirror and you on the other side just to correct the "backwards letters" and to give people something else to complain about. LOL. Love your videos bro!

  3. @Whisper Status74 said share your experiences so here I am. I'm about to warn you this is going to get long. Grab a sandwich or a beer first if need be.
I am a current owner of the 2018 Vizio P series quantum and have had experiences with the 2016 and 2017 p series sets before that. I will try to make my review of the set detailed but concise and if anyone has any questions at all please don't hesitate to ask. I purchased the set September of 2018 at a price of $1600 I believe. The set debuted at $2,200.

To give you some background I am very much a pic quality first person but don't have an unlimited budget for tv's as I have other obligations, hobbies, etc. In saying that, I can absolutely look over a less streamlined experience and accept a set being a bit more rough around the edges for a good picture quality to price ratio and think this is where the TV really delivers. At the time of it's sale it was significantly cheaper than the same sized q9f or even q8f. I will be the first to admit that overall the Samsung is probably the more well rounded set when you take into account OS speed, streaming services and overall software polish but you will pay a premium for it. But for me personally the Vizio hit a really good blend of excellent picture quality for the price while packing decent and adequate but by no means exceptional overall fit and finish in software, tv set and stand design and remote quality. These are all tangibles that some put more weight in than others.

    DSE
My set has DSE. There I said it. But mine is a very small band a few inches from the right end of the set and it is very minimal. I have to try to really look for it to see it and under normal viewing circumstances I never notice it. Other owners have had none at all, others have returned sets for it. Seems to be like every other tv the last few years. DSE seems to be a real Achilles heel of many manufacturers across the board.

    Black levels
The black levels of the set are very deep for an LCD set. I watch in darkness or near darkness most of the time. While the blacks are very deep for an LCD set most who have experience with oled will tell you and probably rightfully so that its not mistakable for an OLED set in pitch dark room but any ambient light at all in the room the blacks will look pitch black. Overall I am very impressed with the black levels of the set for an LCD.

    Standard Dynamic Range
SDR on this set can look really quite nice and crazy bright if needed but can be toned down. While Vizio is not known for their upscaling I personally don't think it's as bad as some make it out to be although I must say I rarely watch anything lower than native 1080p or 720p on this set. There are several picture preset modes out of the box. All of them can be modified. If you are a stickler for color accuracy only two of them are worth your time which are calibrated and calibrated dark. The color accuracy in calibrated and calibrated dark is overall pretty good and will probably leave the majority of users happy but I'm a tweaker and used a colorimeter to dial in the grayscale, gamma, and color to rec709 standards and the SDR goes from pretty good to truly exceptional. The display can track gamma 2.2 very close. Greyscale with an average of .6 delta E errors on 5%-100%ire patterns. Primary and secondary colors with only an average of 0.7 Delta E and no single primary or secondary color over a delta E of over 1.2 the tv is capable of Excellent SDR color tracking if you have access to a colorimeter.

    HDR
HDR highlights on this set are really what makes it stand out. The wider color gamut is easy to see. The HDR brightness really makes colors pop extremely well on this set. Shows like Altered Carbon or 4k ultra blurays really look great overall. The set can get very bright. It is rated at 2,000 nits but many including myself have measured over that on smaller window sizes.

    Other Details
I have no regrets at all buying in for the price I paid. The Tv is the best display that has ever been in my house in terms of outright picture quality but it is by no means perfect. DSE is still an issue and a roll of the dice for some. Not an issue on mine but certainly worth noting others experiences. DSE overall has been improved significantly since the 2016 P series debut but it still bites too many users in my opinion on LCD sets of all kinds.

With 192 zones and incredible amounts of possible brightness blooming especially in HDR (sdr is generally well controlled with proper settings) can be noticeable at times and it's important to sit in front of the set for off angles will only amplify such blooming. The doubling of zones on the new Quantum X could no doubt improve blooming performance and is why the X intrigues me. Most of the time the blooming is minor and does not pull me out of the visual experience but on rare occasion it can. This can be very subjective. Some don't notice or care at all while other's can't stand even the slightest bit of blooming. I'd say I'm in the middle for reference.

Let talk dimming algorithm. When the tv was released some content especially hdr content with pans of bright objects could make the zones fire on and off in such a way that made very bright objects to seem to flicker while moving from zone to zone. While not always there it could be quite distracting when it occurred. Color banding could be noticed on occasion as well. Vizio has released several firmware updates to the set since release and Vizio has improved the panning between zone issues to where I very rarely see it anymore and they also improved the color banding to a noticeable degree in the most recent firmware update.

The tv's streaming OS can be a bit slow and clunky compared to others but is serviceable none the less. If you care about picture quality first and all else comes second this tv is excellent value for money and think the Quantum X will continue that. Just understand the onboard streaming apps, the remote, the upscaling on lower quality sources etc will not be as premium as the more expensive sets it's up against such as the Sony's and Samsung's. Anyone need any more info on the set or calibration tips don't hesitate to ask.

  4. Sorry, they just announced that the X was recalled. There was a major defect. It will now not be sold. Period. (This way I don't have to obsess about upgrading my 2018 Quantum). 😉

  5. Quantum x the verdict is still out but some of the comments are scaring me but I will hold out to see what happens I am getting a 75 inch display in November or the end of January which 1 I don't know

  6. I am in the market for a new TV after having a Insignia for 10 years ? But I was wondering about the brightness ov these Vizios… In the story they look awesome and crisp but the lighting in these stores are extremly bright and being I work nights and watch TV at night during my days off I'm sure I'll see an insane amount of haloing with the Vizios… Now your honest opinion Between the Q8fn and the new q70r… Which one?

  7. Will Best Buy ever get in the Vizio Quantum X 65 inch I only see the 75 inch I only see the 65 inch at Target and Costco also Sam's Club I only have credit at Best Buy thats why I am asking.

  8. I don't care what camera you use or the clothes you wear!! You can make a video naked on a 2004 flip phone!! I'm here for the information!! I'm really thinking about getting 75in PQX!!

  9. First off who cares about the quality of ur videos? I sure don't in fact Brian let me tell what i would do u should make the picture quality of ur videos even worse just to tick off the people that are complaining lol. We don't come over here for a well polished video with a high production quality in fact 2 be be completely honest i can not stand most tech videos that are really nice and polished because i know it's most likely some1 that has millions of subscribers and there being sponsored to give a good review on a product and i don't like videos like that.I like Rtings and stuff like that because their giving us a actual review with number and things like that but that's about it. So the P Series Quantum X and techradar not a lot of information at all i agree with what u said there just focusing on things like the design and the operating system everything i do not care about lol but it is a review. Now let me just say if u look back on some of the history of Vizio for the most part when it comes to pic quality and high specs they have delivered they have made some premium TVs with crazy specs before. I don't know if you know this or not but Vizio has actually came out with a really high end premium display in the past just a few years ago it was called the Vizio Reference Series came out in 2016 i think from what i understand it was even the first ever TV 2 support Dolby Vision. There wasn't 2many reviews on it other than the channels with a high sub count i could never find anything from customers having it in their home or anything but that's because it was very pricey and they only had 2 sizes a 65 inch for 6,000 dollars and get this they had a 120 inch for 130,000 dollars i know crazy right look it up on youtube. At the time not only was it Vizios most impressive display but people were calling it the best led of the year. It had something like over 300 zones it was extremely bright from what the reviewers were saying it looked like an amazing tv but it just came and went other than the couple of reviews there was nothing else on it at all. Why am i telling u this i don't know i ramble a lot lol but i just wanted u 2 know that Vizio has put out a really high end TV be4 that's if u didn't know already this. I completely understand why u would be nervous specially after owning something as nice as the 900e. I will say though that really high peak brightness would kinda scare me as well i mean 3,000 nits sounds awesome and incredible but if the TV doesn't have the awesome tone mapping to back up the awesome peak brightness then it's gonna get really washed out and have lots of blooming. What i can tell u is well i don't know if this will be any help to u or any1 looking 2 get this TV is that my 2018 P Series having only 56 zones but can hit over 1,000 nits and is very bright does tone map really well it never gets washed out or anything the contrast always looks very detailed and bright now every once in awhile i might get a little blooming but that cause the limited zone count but the brightness is controlled very well on my TV but 3,000 nits is a lot lol. The only thing i noticed that was really strange with the Vizio that i have is ok so when i go in2 the setting 2 adjust the contrast in HDR i can set it to 70 percent and it will look really good but whats so strange is 70 percent on my TV is like 100 percent on something like a Samsung or a Sony it's weird i guess its just how they have their contrast set up. Anyways i know this is a long comment they always are lol hopefully this was any help what soever 4 u I"m so excited for u 2 get this tv and just go on the journey with ya it's gonna be fun.

  10. Whisper as always good points made. I agree with some people’s points that the Vizio TV will not be a better picture than an OLED but at half the cost that is where the discussion really comes to a head. Is the lack of blooming worth that? Going from my 2015 OLED to the 2018 PQ65 I couldn’t be happier as cost for what I get picturewise was my question. It all comes down to each person has to see the TV for themselves and decide is the cost worth it. Glad you are here man as I agree family man with kids also keep doing you I don’t need frills I need the real!!

  11. For me I am planning on buying the Standard P Quantum with 1000 to 1200 nits and 200 dimming zones with the 65 inch. I currently have the 2018 55 inch Vizio P series with 1000 nits and 56 dimming zones and its picture quality is top notch. People I'm telling you that 3000 nits is simply too much, it's overkill. Since I have my Vizio in my dark bedroom 1000 nits is all I need to experience really sweet HDR gaming without pulverizing your eyes. I simply want the Quantum dot color gamut and more dimming zones with basically the same brightness of my current tv and the P Quantum will deliver.

  12. I would looooove to see a comparison between the Vizio 2018 M series (I just bought this) and the recently released M series (2019) with Quantum dots. Wondering if there is a marginal or night and day difference.

  13. I appreciate your addressing the image reversal on your videos. I'm not sure what phone you use to record these videos but most android phones have a setting in the front camera settings that allow you to record videos or take photos with the reverse or "mirror image" turned off so they are correctly seen (printing can be read) when viewed. A quick Google search on your phone model should allow you find that setting. I'm not sure about Apple phones, but they probably have a similar setting as well. You don't need another camera. As you discuss, the use of the phone allows for more spontaneity and quick posting of your thoughts/ideas, like late last night LOL.

I agree with your opinion that few people would be intensely interested if you bought a 75" OLED TV and discussed it; certainly not in a continuing series of videos. On the other hand, you don't seem motivated to create a channel with a huge following and great monetization potential. $3,500.00 is a lot to spend just because a relatively small group of people would have interest in your experience and observations. It's very selfless of you. However if I were you and had the money to afford a 75" OLED and really thought that TV would be best for me then I'd buy the OLED. In the end you're going to be watching it in your man cave to enjoy different content and entertain yourself. We aren't going to be there with you every night watching movies or playing games. It's your money, your purchase and your eyes. Buy something that will truly make you happy, not something that might be "good enough" but would be of interest to your viewers.

I do appreciate your videos and thoughts. They are well thought out and show you to be a very intelligent, rational guy with a good head on your shoulders. Thank you.

  14. Brian, don’t worry about those comments, I’m pretty sure the bulk of us are here because you cut right to the meat of the video. I literally could care less that the words on your shirt are backwards or that your channel doesn’t have some ridiculous intro that blows my headphones out. It’s why I follow your channel, you get right to the point.

  15. The z9g is not a dream tv and this is coming from a sony fan who has a z9d, for the price of 13 grand you are getting a tv with poor blacks and blooming, the only thing they did was to increase the brightness to 4000 nits and improve the viewing angles and when you complain they say if blacks are important to you then buy their oled tv. I am thinking of getting the quantum x but I need more in dept reviews but if the blooming is as bad as you guys are saying I will just hold off until next year.

  16. I think in the last video the camera lens was not clean. But who cares.. you could sit in a dark spot, or film a stuffed animal, i would still listen..

  17. Brian. Tell you what buddy. If some people dont like the camera your using they have two options. One. Dont watch the channel if they dont like camera your using and two. Quit bitching and just enjoy the best channel on YouTube out there. Sorry Brian if I am out of line with what I said. I have your back.
