I don't lock my phone, which was a great asset when I actually lost it once. When it was called, it was answered and I got it back promptly. And even though others may ditch their wallets within five years, I am still going to be carrying mine. Right into my casket…!
It is technically still good to have backup cards and stuff with your wallets but cell phones are often locked and can't be used unless you fingerprint them and if they are stolen it is highly unlikely that anyone can use a cell phone in the same manner as having a wallet stolen with the information from credit cards and pin number on the back so in some ways they are much better than having a wallet on your person
